Claude text rewriter
A statistical watermark is not a character you can delete — it is a pattern in which words were chosen. Nothing can lift it out of the text in place. Regenerating the prose is the only thing that displaces it, and that is what this tool does.
Rewrite the passage
This tool sends your text away. Unlike the free inspectors on this site, a rewrite has to run on a model, so the passage you submit leaves your browser. Do not paste anything confidential.
Why a cleaner cannot do this
The free inspector on this site finds characters — zero width spaces, joiners, direction controls, clipboard markup. Those are real bytes in your string, so they can be listed and deleted.
Anthropic's text watermark is a different kind of object. Published on 14 August 2026, it works by changing the source of the randomness the model uses when it picks between words that would each be equally good. Nothing is added to the text and there are no hidden characters. There is no field to read and no byte to remove, so a character-level cleaner has nothing to act on.
What does act on it is writing the passage again. The mark lives in a sequence of word choices; choose the words again and that particular sequence is gone. Anthropic says as much in its own FAQ: light editing probably will not remove the watermark, while a rewrite in which every word is replaced will.
What this tool honestly claims
It regenerates your passage through a model that is not Claude and does not hold Anthropic's watermarking key, preserving the facts, figures, names and structure while choosing the wording afresh.
It does not claim to prove the result is unmarked, because right now nobody can. Anthropic has said a detection API is coming but has not released one, so no third party — this site included — can read the mark, and there is no before-and-after test anyone can show you. Any service that displays a “watermark removed” score today is showing you a number it made up.
Check the output before you use it. A model rewriting a passage can drift on facts, names and figures, and it is your name on whatever you publish.
Before you rewrite something
Watermarking exists because the EU AI Act asks providers to mark AI-generated content, and Anthropic along with around 190 other signatories agreed to a Code of Practice on transparency. Removing a mark from work you are presenting as your own may run into rules that have nothing to do with this site: your university's academic-integrity policy, your publisher's AI disclosure terms, your employer's. Those apply to you regardless of what tooling produced the text.
Plenty of ordinary reasons to rewrite exist too — you drafted with Claude and want the prose in your own register, you had it proofread and do not want the edit flagged, you are quoting your own earlier work. This tool does not know which case you are in, and it does not ask.
Credits and limits
- One credit covers 2,000 characters. Partial blocks round up.
